About
Us
Black
Bear Protogrove, ADF, is a druid grove based in Bloomington, Indiana.
We began in the fall of 2003, and have remained one of the
only ongoing neo-pagan groups in the Bloomington area to offer regular
public rituals for the eight neo-pagan High Days.
We are dedicated to connecting with our local land and honoring the
spirits that reside around us, as well as working with and honoring the
deities and spirits of the ancient Indo-European religious traditions.
We strive to protect our mother the Earth, to establish
relationships with the deities we work with through both personal work
and scholarship to understand the cultures from which they come, and to
establish a strong and creative spiritual presence in our local
community. Our name honors the American black bear, Ursus americanus,
which was once native to the forested hills of southern
Indiana. Through the magical and mundane work that we do, we
hope to call the power, wisdom, and resourcefulness of the black bear--
and perhaps someday the bear itself-- back to this region.
We hold eight public High Day rituals every year. To find out
about the next one, click here. We also hold
meetings on a variety of topics twice a month-- click here to
see our past and future event schedule.
